Senior High School Mathematics Curriculum Standard(experiment)clearly states that textbook is an important resource to fulfill the target of courses and.Nowadays,from the international perspective of educational reference,contrastive studies of textbooks have been emphasized in education research of all regions and countries in the world.Mainland China and Taiwan share the same historical and cultural background,however,Taiwan made earlier reference to the western advanced educational experience than Mainland China,which gives rise to the difference between.Therefore,the contrastive study of Mainland China mathematics textbook and its Taiwan counterpart would shed light on valuable reference for compiling of textbook and the pedagogical design.Taking "inequality" in textbook version A of People Education Press and compulsory course of Hanlin Education as an example,this thesis conducts a contrastive study of Mainland China mathematics textbook and its Taiwan counterpart with the method of document,comparison and content analysis.In retrospect to related previous literatures,this thesis intends to analyze the arrangement of knowledge,format and print and other aspects concerning "inequality" on the base of pedagogical target of inequality in Senior High School Mathematics Curriculum Standard(experiment)of Mainland China and Mathematics syllabus of Taiwan.Then the qualitative and quantitative analysis of exercises,quantity of exercises and their difficulty will be conducted in order to find out their familiarity and difference.At last,suggestions and measure will be proposed to improve the content in regard to "inequality" and compiling of the textbook of senior high school compulsory course.The study indicates that:(1)at the macro level,there is tremendous difference in content standard regarding "inequality",which is demonstrated by the number of pedagogical targets,level of target,pedagogical time,leaning order and so on.(2),at the micro level,the difference is displayed on the knowledge structure,exercise,exercise number and difficulty between Mainland China senior high school compulsory course and its Taiwan counterpart.The illumination on Mainland China textbook compiling is as follow from the above contrastive analysis:(1)Textbook should be printed in color.(2)The connection among the knowledge point should be enhanced,so is the cohesion of knowledge.(3)Spiral mode should be employed in textbook compiling.(4)Knowledge skill and concept should be emphasized in question situation teaching.(5)The difficulty of some exercise in "inequality" section of compulsory course should be appropriate.
