The new curriculum reform has been carried out since 2011 in China.According to the new curriculum standard,the traditional concepts on a classroom should be altered and updated.The teachers are no longer the center of the classroom but a guide to satisfy students' needs.The needs and individualities of the students are now greatly valued.The Flipped Classroom Model is a new teaching model which is started and developed in the United States.It creates a student-centered environment and differs from the traditional task-based model of classroom.It reverses where students gain and apply knowledge by using the information technology and digital resource.The flipped classroom plays a positive role in students' individualized study and agrees with the new curriculum reform.In recent years,researchers and educators in China have studied the Flipped Classroom Model.However,the study about the English learning in primary school is still not sufficient.Nowadays English is a required course in many cities,the study about the Flipped Classroom Model in primary school is urgent and necessary.After studying the related theories and thesis,the author applies the Flipped Classroom Model to English learning in a primary school in order to explore the practical effects from two aspects: effects on the students' English achievement and effects on students' interests.The two research questions are:(1)Whether the Flipped Classroom Model could help the students improve their achievement in English learning?(2)Whether the Flipped Classroom Model could stimulate students' interests in English learning?In order to answer these questions,a teaching experiment is carried out in Grade Six in Xi Yangling Primary School,Shi Jiazhuang,Hebei Province.A whole class is chosen to be the subjects of the teaching experiment and divided into two groups.One is the experimental group,and the other is control group.The teaching experiment lasts four months from September to December in 2015.The data collected in this study includes the questionnaires,interviews and the students' scores of a pre-test and post-tests.By using SPSS19.0,the results show that the Flipped Classroom Model used in English learning in primary schools can improve the students' achievement and has a positive effect on students' interests.
