With the continuous development of urbanization,more and more rural migrant farmers' children come to Shanghai with their parents.Xinchang Primary School in Pudong New District of Shanghai is a public primary school which enrolls such children.Because of the differences between other provinces and Shanghai in English learning,many students have not studied English before coming to Shanghai,so their English is poor.Many students have not mastered basic vocabulary,so the vocabulary teaching becomes the focus and the difficulty of English teaching.The author finds that the English nursery rhymes can arouse the students' interest in learning English,but many English teachers just use nursery rhymes as one of the lead-in materials,and seldom use them in the consolidation stage of vocabulary teaching.In order to improve students' interest in learning vocabulary,the author tries selecting some suitable English nursery rhymes to help students consolidate vocabulary and to help students learn English better.The thesis is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction part,which is mainly about the research background,the significance of the research,and the research status home and abroad.The second chapter is the concept and theoretical basis of English children's songs and vocabulary strengthening,mainly including English nursery rhymes and English nursery rhymes teaching,related theories,and related researches at home and abroad.The third chapter is the experimental part,which mainly includes the experiment purpose,the experiment process,the experiment material,the experiment object,the experiment data analysis,the experiment result and other several parts.The fourth chapter is the conclusion part,which mainly has the research inspiration,the research deficiency and the research prospect.The experiment results have the following inspirations: firstly,the experiment fully proves that English nursery rhymes are beneficial to strengthen the vocabulary.The use of English nursery rhymes can effectively stimulate the students' interest,improve the efficiency and expand the vocabulary in learning English vocabulary.Secondly,English nursery rhymes are used in the consolidation stage of English vocabulary.Students are attracted to vivid nursery rhymes and have the desire to learn.Students become the subjects of learning,and teachers become the instructorsof learning.So students can actively imitate and learn to sing and immerse themselves in the joy of learning English vocabulary.
