| Based on data obtained from the 2011 SERU(Student Experiences in Research University),this research has studied the differences between the students who want to change their major and the students who have no intention to change their major about inputting,learning process and learning outcomes.As well as professional learning experience,exploring the issuse that the major-changers whether they have internal heterogeneity or not.The study showed:the students who come from rural areas,their parents without higher education and the occupation in lower social status,low income,subject background belongs to science are more likely to have intention to change their major.After enterting college,the students who wanted to change their major are more inclined to get more professional degrees and they are more likely to go to work directly after graduation.What’s more,both general and professional course learning,the students who have intention to change their major do worse than the students who have no intention to change their major,embodied in:curriculum participation,major interest,profession involvement,cognition of importance of major,teacher-student interaction,these defferences reached the moderate degree and above.Furthermore,as for learning effect,the students who have intention to change their major do worse than the students who have no intention to change their major,embodied in:GPA,general capacity growth,major learning gains and so on.These 10 defferences reached the moderate degree and above.Furthmore,this study found:this group has internal heterogeneity,and according to their characters,named academic type groups,disengaged type groups,social type groups.What’s more,academic type groups have a great investment on professional courses and leanings;disengaged type groups interest in the professional,investment are general and they are rarely participate in clubs,part-time and other social activities;social type groups are keen to participate in social activities,and their professional interest is not high,investment is low;By further comparing three types of group learning experience found:academic type groups have more boys,and social type groups have more girls;academic type groups behave better than disengaged type groups,social type groups on learning experience,and there are also some differences between disengaged type groups and social type groups.The enlightenment of the study:the university should pay more attention to the students who have intention to change their major;what’s more,in order to improve the learning efficency,it is necessary to manage these students by classification;Furthermore,the university should encourage interaction between teachers and students and create a more open learning environment. |
