Trust is at the core of social capital theory and this view has always been affirmed by theoretical researchers.Social trust is recognized as the main reason of the county's or the region's economic growth and social progress(Zak&Knack,2001).After many surveys and studies,it shows that in recent years, the social trust of residents in our country has seen declined.China is entering a period of frequent social trust issues.Milk powder event,Red Cross trust crisis, telecommunications fraud and other numerous trust events have spread in all aspects of society.Lower levels of social trust have greatly increased transaction costs, even had an effect to the people's daily lives. In the critical period of transformation reform, integration of the current situation of the population in the country, finding out the reasons for the low level of social trust, not only has significant theoretical value, but more urgent practical significance. There are many researchers had a deep discussion of this problem and reasons. But one potential reason didn't have the attention of academics at that time, which is the influence of floating population growth on the level of social trust. In 2010 The Sixth Census showed that the floating population of our country was 2.6 million. The population is generally concentrated in the economically developed eastern coastal areas, and the western, central and northeast parts of the city have obvious population outflow. In recent years, population outflow is continuously growing and the speed is also fast in our country.Theoretically, the quantity of migrant population has led to an increased heterogeneity between residents and enhancing the strangeness.not only intensifies the competition for urban public resources, but also improves the transaction cost between people. Thus in the exchanges,it is easier to produce distrust in the process of communication and transaction. From reality, problems of the floating population in urban life also caused the attention of the national social.Low trust will increase social integration barriers. This is not only harmful for the development of migration, but also affecting the process of China's new urbanization. This dissertation used the data of China's Comprehensive Society(CGSS)of 2013 year.researched the influence of population migration to the social trust. But the social trust impacts population migration too.In this dissertation we have used the average temperature of January 1974 year as instrumental variable of migration, tried to overcome the endogenous bias that may exist in the estimation. The results are:population migration is the main reason of growing social mistrust. In order to increase the trust between people we must continue to deepen the household registration reform system,so that the floating population in the medical security, public resources, career opportunities and other problems can be treated fairly, and discrimination against migrants can reduce. The dissertation consists of six parts. This dissertation discusses the background, theory, current situation, empirical, robustness and policy recommendations respectively.First of all,it expounds the present situation of the trust level and the background of the population, and then explains the significance of this problem. At the same time, the whole structure of this dissertation is expounded, and the innovation point is briefly described. The second part is the literature review.First of all,we explain the concept of population mobility and social trust.Secondly, the essence of social trust theory and multi-field research are sorted out. Finally, the influencing factors of social trust and the literature about the social impact of population mobility are sorted out.The third part analyzes the characteristics of population mobility to social trust. This dissertation introduces the situation of China's population movement and the level of social trust in China, and proposes two mechanisms that could affect the level of social trust. The fourth part is the empirical study on the level of social trust.First of all, this dissertation describes the variables and data, and describes the independent variables, dependent variables specific information. After the descriptive statistics, according to the data structure the regression analysis is carried out. Finally, the IV tool variables are used to further robust analysis for the empirical results. The fifth part is the heterogeneity analysis. The heterogeneity analysis was carried out on the population inflow and the outflow of the population, the non-farm household and the agricultural household registration and the local household registration and the foreign household registration, and then the corresponding conclusion was drawn from the analysis result. The sixth part is the conclusion and the policy suggestion.According to the empirical results and then come to the corresponding point of view, the impact of population movements on the level of social trust and the specifics impact of the degree of impact. The main innovations of this dissertation are as follows. The first is to study the innovation of perspective. From the perspective of the impact of floating population on the level of trust in residents' society,we explore another important factor that affects social trust. The second is the innovation of empirical research. We matched the data of CGSS in 2013 and the data of macro population mobility data, then used probit model as empirical analysis. Finally, the tool variables are selected to deal with the endogenous nature of the model.
