Harmonious relationship between teachers and students is not only conducive to the completion of teaching tasks, but also to help students develop the ability to care and help teachers to improve their caring quality.Primary and secondary school students who are in the period of physical and mental development are not perfect. They have strong plasticity in the future development and strong dependence on teachers. In the process of education,if students get the caring help from teachers,it is easy for them to produce full and warm emotional experience, and learn to accept the basis of the formation of feedback. In the actual teaching, the problems such as violence and cold violence between teachers and students are highlighted, which affects the normal teaching and the cultivation of students’ perfect personality. In order to further grasp the current situation of teacher-student relationship, many scholars have carried out theoretical and empirical researches on it,and try to solve the problem of moral indifference by using the theory of care. However, there are many researches focusing on the shallow meaning of care, and lacking depth.Researches mainly focus on the indifference between teachers and students in colleges and universities. There is little research on the moral indifference between teachers and students in primary and secondary schools. Therefore,it is necessary and valuable to explore the moral indifference between teachers and students in primary and secondary schools under the perspective of the theory of care. The educator Nel Noddings studies the lack of care in the field of education. She suggested that the real care can not only promote the autonomy of school education, but also speed up and achieve the process of human nature. The theory of care emphasizes that the school has the suppression training in the name of caring.Such compulsory education causes children to loss interest in school and other drawbacks. This study takes Noddings’ caring theory as the analysis tool, using case analysis method, comparison method, classification method of questionnaire to collate and analyze the moral indifference between teachers and students in primary and secondary schools. The contents of the study include the types of moral indifference between teachers and students in primary and secondary schools, the construction process of the types and the logical relationship between them. The first one is the lack of teachers’ caring for students. In this kind of moral indifference,it can be divided into two categories further: the utilitarian type and the control type. The utilitarian moral indifference means that teachers in utilitarianism pay more attention to students’ external academic achievement, and that the completion of certain teaching tasks. In this kind of moral indifference, students’ psychological and mental developments are ignored. The moral indifference of control is a kind of controlling teaching which lacks of love, and it is implemented by some teachers under the guise for students’ growth. It is not a real concern to force students to accept the “care”.The second one is that students lack response for teachers’ caring. In this kind of moral indifference, students show the poor feelings for caring behavior, lack of awareness and ability to respond to the situation.Lacking the feelings for caring behavior mainly refers to the students’ poor feelings on psychological and spiritual. It is difficult for students to feel teachers’ caring behavior and to identify their emotional needs. The lack of gratitude to teachers’ caring behavior means that students who face teachers’ caring help have difficulties in producing graduate consciousness and behavioral tendency. The lack of response to teachers’ caring behavior means that students lack of awareness and ability to respond to their teachers in the teaching process because of the utilitarian teaching tendency, lack of family education, social education and school education. The third one is the lack of love between teachers and students.According to Noddings’ theory of caring, teachers in primary and secondary education are supposed to abandon the narrow knowledge teaching view based on utilitarian, focus on students actual needs and give further care help.Students’ love for teachers in primary and secondary schools is reflected in different levels of acceptance and response to teachers’ caring behavior, which is divided into the natural love which conforms to the moral ethics and the ethical love for moral cognition.Through the in-depth analysis of the caring theory and moral indifference between teachers and students in primary and secondary schools, the following conclusions are drawn: first,Noddings’ caring theory provides a theoretical basis for moral indifference solving between teachers and students in the primary and middle schools.Second, the nature of the relationship between teachers and students in primary and secondary schools is caring.Third, the acceptance attention and motivation displacement are the necessary conscious features of teachers caring for students.Fourth, acceptance and response are the necessary psychological characteristics of students caring for teachers.Fifth, the lack of care and response constitutes the inner circle of moral indifference between teachers and students in primary and secondary schools.Sixth, the lack of love constitutes the outer ring of moral indifference between teachers and students in primary and secondary schools. At the end of the paper, the research discusses the construction of the types of moral indifference between teachers and students in primary and secondary schools.
