The education of the new age advocates putting knowledge into specific problems and daily situations.It also adcocates students collecting information,analyzing information and using information to solve practical problems.It can improve students’ ability to acquire knowledge and the ability to use knowledge to solve problems through the learning process.However,the traditional English teaching in middle school,it only relys on the memory of knowledge and the understanding of the textbook so that students can only master the knowledge of English,but don’t know how to use it.The Thematic Learning activities try to combine students’ life and learning.It takes themes as the center to organize learning contents,and the students can get knowledge and use knowledge to solve problems by exploring,which is comply with the requirement of modern education.With the development of education informatization,information technology plays an increasingly important role in middle school education,and the informationization of middle school English teaching has become a hot topic.Under this background,the writer put forward the design of thematic learning activities supported by information technology in middle school English.This research is divided into five parts: The first part elaborates the research background,the purpose and significance,and content and the method of the issue,as well as the literature review of this article.The second part elaborates the basic concept and theories of this research.The third part studys the teaching status of middle school English,students’ desire of using the information technology to learn and students’ views about thematic learning,then sums up the problems of middle school English teaching and analyzes the advantages of information technology supporting middle school English teaching.The fourth part is the focus of this research.Based of the theorise and study,it analyzes the elements of thematic learning activities IT suupported by IT in middle school English teaching,and puts forward the design principle and design process.In the fifth part,it chooses a specefic theme and applies it to practice,then tests implementation effect.Finally,the research proposes the conclusions and outlook of the study.Based on the effect of practice,It summarizes the shortcomings,and make suggestions for the next step.The aim of this study is to make full use of all available information technologies and design learning activities reasonably to provide the best servies for students.
