Clinical practice is a very important and complicated process in medical education. It is the key process for medical students to combine the theoretical knowledge in school with practice;and transform themselves into qualified clinicians. The characteristics of medical students' s reading in clinical practice have the duality of both students and clinicians. However, during clinical internship, medical students not only participate in a large number of medical practices, but also have to face much pressure from all kinds of examinations, thesis writing, employment and doctor-patient relationship. So reading can be easily affected in this period. Therefore,it is necessary to investigate the characteristics and rules of reading behavior of medical students in clinical practice, and it is of great significance to cultivate good reading habits of medical students,to carry out reading education, and to broaden the service work for readers in medical college's libraries. This paper elaborates the significance of reading in improving the professional knowledge, skills and humanities of medical students in clinical practice. And it discusses the reading content, reading style, reading preference, reading source, reading time, reading place, reading process summary, marking and thinking behavior and reading effect, reading influencing factors and other aspects, through the questionnaire survey and interview of the medical students in the clinical practice stage from two medical universities in Chongqing, under quantitative analysis combined with qualitative analysis, the overall analysis combined with partial analysis of the clinical practice. And the paper further summarizes the main features of the medical students' reading needs in the clinical practice stage and the problems in the medical students' reading, and analyzes the main factors that influence the reading behavior of medical students in the clinical practice stage. The survey results show that: because of multiple tasks during the internship, the reading needs of medical students show the characteristics of practicality;the new environment's adaption, periodical and graduation examinations, employment pressure and so on,all of these affect the continual interest in reading;students think that work is busy, and they have no time and energy to keep reading;Reading resources are relatively difficult to obtain during the internship;Mobile devices, especially smart mobile phone reading has become the preferred reading tool,micro-blog,WeChat,micro video fragmentary reading has become a new normal digital reading. It is difficult to achieve the expected effect, because annotation and notes occur rarely in paper reading. The expectations to the instructors, the needs of library resources and services have become the major factors which affect the reading effect of medical students in clinical practice.According to the results of investigation and analysis, the focus from the individual students, medical practice at the Internship department and library, puts forward some feasible suggestions on guiding clinical practice medical students' reading behavior, and provide a theoretical basis for the future development of the library reading education of medical students.
