With the development of English Teaching in China,more and more attention has been paid to English textbooks,which plays an important role in guiding learners to master English.Practice system is also an important part in the English textbooks because an English textbook composed of teaching material structure,thematic unit,text selection system and practice system.By studying English teaching practice system,we can judge whether the English textbooks can organize the content in scientific and reasonable way,provide effective protection for students' language input,also the teaching is helpful to develop students' language ability and promote the development of students' cultural awareness.By analyzing the texts of Yilin version of Oxford Junior English textbook in Jiangsu,this paper studies the teaching system of English textbooks.First of all,for the sake of showing the different types of exercises in the amount and the proportion of the total accounted for practice,this paper classify and count all teaching practice exercises in the system.Secondly,this paper study the consistency of teaching materials and curriculum standards from five aspects of the exercises in the textbook,which are language knowledge,language skills,emotional attitude,learning strategies and cultural awareness.Then,the paper analyzes the characteristics of the teaching practice from three perspectives: the cognitive characteristics of students,the characteristics of students' learning and the learning motivation of students.Of course,in order to make the article more convincing,this paper based on text analysis and literature research on the junior high school English teachers.According to the contents of the teaching practice analysis and evaluation,we can draw the following conclusions.Firstly,the distribution of the practice system is scientific and it inclines more to cultivate the students' language ability.Secondly,the teaching practice system inosculates with English New Curriculum Standard.It also has a wide coverage of language knowledge,and pay attention to the cultivation of basic language skills.Although it is not perfect in the aspect of emotional attitudes,learning strategies and cultural awareness,there has been a qualitative leap compared to the past teaching materials.And the practice system is powerful of the logic,hierarchy,and interestingness.Not only can conformity with the cognitive characteristics of junior high school students,but it also can satisfy the different stages of learning in junior high school and stimulate the learning motivation of students.In addition,the practice system is both fundamental and practical.It can promote the migration of learning English.We think that it is in accordance with the characteristics of foreign language learning.Although the practice system of particular features,as well as advantages obviously,there are still some shortcomings,such as the large vocabulary,the lower vocabulary practice recurrence rate,single grammar practice and some boring practice in this teaching material and so on.So we need to promote the practice system of this teaching material in these aspects.We should arrange practice in a reasonable quantity,improve the quality of practice,compile more openness practice and try to meet the needs of all the students.
