To learn English well,a lot of reading is indispensable.Compulsory education English curriculum standard(2011)sets the students of Grade 9 can read the corresponding level of reading materials.The total of the students’ extracurricular reading accumulative amount is more than one hundred and fifty thousand words.The students should master some simple reading strategies to obtain information.However,English Teaching in junior high school the teachers still emphasis on basic knowledge teaching.Most of the students will not use the reading strategies correctly.They can not know how to start reading,so the students’ reading level is stagnant.The questionnaire is designed to investigate students.Therefore,this paper investigates the use of English Reading Strategies and discusses the problem: One is the present situation of English reading strategies used by the students.It affects the factors of English reading strategies used by the students.Three is through the teachers in the teaching of students in reading strategies and guidance for the measures for the implementation of the training is to help students..This study is based on 526 students in Grade 9 of H Middle School in Jiangyin City,Jiangsu Province.This paper designs a questionnaire of 50 reading strategies,The questionnaire is designed from five aspects: cognition,metacognition,emotion,communication and resources.Then the data analysis software is used to analyze the results of the study.Then the data analysis software is used to analyze the results of the study.Students are relatively high in the use of communication strategies,cognitive,metacognitive and affective strategies are used less,and resource strategies are the lowest.This study on the basis of the questionnaire,15 students were interviewed.The results show that the students have little time to read,the majority of students are not aware of the high level of reading,the main preference is to translate into Chinese and communication strategies,and the use of affective strategies and resource strategies is relatively small.This paper analyzes the causes of the problems from the perspective of students,objectives and teachers.By setting the reading class,recommending a good book and encouraging students to use resources to learn.,we have English reading classroom trainings and other measures to enhance the students’ strategies use well.This study is a questionnaire survey and interviews with students to find out the problems existing in the students’ reading,in order to provide help for the teaching practice. |
