This thesis reports an experimental study on training of English reading strategy. The study is designed mainly to investigate the using circumstance in which the students are using the reading strategies, and then the author summarizes some valid reading strategies to carry on training to the students. Firstly , the author tries to investigate whether these valid reading strategies can be trained or not; secondly, the author tries to find out the impact that the effective reading strategies can bring to the students' reading comprehension and to the students' total reading level; thirdly, the author tries to get the answer whether the effective reading strategies training will influence the students' reading belief and reading strategy consciousness.In this study, two classes with 112 students of senior three in No.2 Lingxi High School, Cangnan, Zhejiang were wholly sampled.One of the classes is a key class with 56 students; the other class is a common class with 56 students. All the students receive a four-month reading strategies-based training .The way for training is to combine the single-item strategy training, integrating reading training and the text teaching of Senior Three together. All of the subjects took the pretest and posttest, and filled out a pre-treatment questionnaire and a post-treatment questionnaire. The scores were statistically analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social sciences (SPSS 11.5). In addition, some subjects were interviewed before and after implementing strategies-based instruction and three cases were discussed.The answers to these questions are positive, and meanwhile the results manifests that the training have the greatest influence on the medium students.The thesis composes five chapters. Chapter 1: Introduction; Chapter 2: Reviewing the domestic and international research on reading strategy; Chapter 3 : expounding theories related to the reading and reading strategies in the study; Chapter 4: highlighting the present study by describing the subjects, methodology and the conducting procedures. In Chapter 5, the results are discussed and the conclusions of the study are reached. The chapter provides methodological and practical implications, points out the limitations of the study, and gives recommendations for further researches on the field.
