Along with the development of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,the learner's age level are also becoming more and more broad,For second language learners,reading is an effective way to improve their language ability,so that learners need a suitable level of extracurricular reading books.This paper hope to take four series of published children graded Chinese reading books as the research objects,carry on this investigation from structure,subject,difficulty level,exercise.This article is divided into five chapters,the first chapter is introduction,mainly introduces the selected topic background,including reading influence on second language acquisition,the definition of the concept of children and children's books and theory of children's psychological development,the study included four sets of children's books on Chinese as a foreign language,they are Good Friends,Learning Chinese,The Chinese Library Series and My First Chinese Storybooks.Research methods are literature analysis,quantitative research method and comparative method,and it also expounds the reason on choosing these several sets of books.The second chapter is investigation on structure of graded readers for children,data statistics and analysis of the whole structure of the books and the type of subject have been taken.The third chapter is about children graded readers'language difficulty,reading level setting,quantity of new words,new words repetition rate,the density of the new words,legibility will be discussed.The fourth chapter is the investigation of exercises,involving amount of questions,purpose of practice.The fifth chapter summarizes the main ideas of the article,puts forward some suggestions on book compiling.According to the article,children Chinese graded readers have distinguishing feature,they were beautifully designed,and topics are close to life,but the classification is not that clear,and have poor control on difficulty.Children's books should follow the principle of pertinent,scientific,interesting,they should optimize the structure of books,enrich reading subjects,setting up reasonable reading level,pay attention to the difficulty of the new words,and improve the repetition rate.It is also advised that we should pay attention to the number of exercises,illustration design should accord with the physiological and psychological characteristics of children,and it should not affect the reading of the text at the same time.Multimedia development also should be paid attention to children's books,aiming to make children publications three-dimensional,and improve interactivity between children and books.Finally the author puts forward the research prospect for the future,we think in the future children graded readers study still has a large space,so we can look forward to scholars working together.
