Map literacy is the most basic content of geography literacy,at present,there is not much research on the map literacy of high school students,and through the survey found that the map literacy of high school students in the county is lack,so it is of great significance to study the improvement strategy of high school student' map literacy.The research takes the theory of educational psychology,the basic theory of cartography,the geography teaching theory and other related theories as the theoretical basis of exploring the status quo of high school students ' map literacy and the improvement strategy,and chooses the high school students of Dangtu first middle school in Anhui Province as the object of investigation.This paper investigates and analyses the map literacy of the school's high school two and three each two parallel classes from "map application Consciousness","map Knowledge","map ability" and "map Emotion" in several aspects,and we finds that:At present,map application consciousness of the high school students in the school is not strong,many students have not formed the "left picture right book" habit;when encountering problems in daily life and learning,the awareness of using maps is weak.The map knowledge is not comprehensive,the students do not have a good grasp of the basic knowledge of the map;lack of relevant practices in the map;lack of contact with new map technology.The map ability is low,lack of comprehensive and regional thinking habits,cannot effectively extract map information;the ability of mapping,drawing and using map is not high;the ability of graphics and text conversion is weak,the ability to combine graphics and text needs to be improved.The map emotion is lighter,emotion and attitude of the map is relatively cold,lack of interest in map activities.Combined with the survey data analysis can be seen: the school's high school students lack map literacy,and need to be improved.For the reasons of the lack of map literacy of high school students in this school,the research is carried out from the aspects of school and family,teachers and students themselves,and effectively puts forward some countermeasures to improve the students' map literacy.
