An Investigation Into Learners' Anxiety Caused By Language Teachers In Junior English Class

Since the rise of Humanistic Psychology in 1960 s,learners' emotion has attracted wide attention.Anxiety,an important section of emotion,also has been given much attention.There are many sources of learners' English classroom anxiety,among which teacher's classroom behaviors and teacher's bad temper can't be ignored.Lots of researches about learners' anxiety caused by English teachers have been done,but the researches specifically for learners' anxiety caused by language teachers in Junior English Class are rare.Thus,based on Humanistic Psychology and Krashen's Affective Filter Hypothesis,this research intends to study the real situation of learners' anxiety caused by language teachers in junior English class.In this research,quantitative and qualitative research methods are used.Four hundred and two learners from two junior schools(one is a city school,the other is a rural school)are selected.The two research questions in this research are:(1)Does there existlearners' anxiety caused by language teachers in Junior English Class? If so,what are the factors related to English teachers?(2)Are there any differencesin learners' anxiety caused by language teachers among different schools types,different genders,different grades and different achievements?The research finally finds that:(1)There exists learners' anxiety caused by language teachers in Junior English Class.And the learners' anxiety is related to the all six dimensions in this questionnaire.(2)There exist significant differencesin learners' anxiety caused by language teachers among different school types,different genders,and different achievements.But there are no differencesin learners' anxiety among different grades.According to these findings,some suggestions are given for English teachers.Meanwhile,some limitations and recommendations are conducted for further research.
