Aiming at improving people's overall quality and promoting the educational philosophy of overall development,holistic education plays a vital role in students' moral,intellectual, physical, aesthetic and labor development and“four new aspects cultivation”: ideal, morality, culture and discipline. It should especially be implemented in primary education. However, there is a shortage of research in holistic education in that phase. For example, the lack of research in philosophy of holistic education in primary Chinese teaching, and how to improve the practice of holistic education in different disciplines. As a Chinese teacher for almost twenty years in primary school, I realize the necessity and importance of revolution of Chinese teaching in primary school by way of questionnaire and interviews, and realize the systematic and effective aspects of holistic education through my own Chinese language teaching practice. It is also discovered that the goal of holistic education is in line with quality-oriented education and new curriculum reform.Based on the aspects above, integrating some knowledge of pedagogy, psychology and management, the research of holistic education in primary Chinese teaching is carried out. The paperconsists of six parts and adopts three methodologies:questionnaire, document analysis and action research. It starts with questions and introduces research background and study project. The second part analyses the content and history of holistic education through literature. The third part discusses in detail the exploration of holistic education in primary Chinese teaching and analyses the necessity and urgency of holistic education practice in Chinese teaching,the need of teachers' roles reversal and management upgrade.The forth part discusses the practice of holistic education in primary Chinese teaching and puts forward the essential factors of practice: the precondition is to improve the efficiency of teacher, the basis is to grasp students' physical and psychological characteristics, the key is to cultivate students' interests, the core is to upgrade teaching management, the power is to improve evaluation of Chinese teaching and then understands the charm of holistic education through daily teaching of “ Midnight Bell”. The fifth part based on integrates theory and practice in above,taking some examples to explain the effect of holistic education. The sixth part reflects the solutions of primary Chinese teaching's practice through analysis of thelimitation of holistic education.The whole thesis puts the holistic education into the primary Chinese teaching practice with the guidance of “to deepen overall educational reform”, the whole design have rigorous logic, real cases, intensive analysis, with a view on student integrated development. It requires the “holistic teacher” to educate “the holistic students” in order to provide millions of qualified socialism builder and reliable successors to building moderately prosperous society.
