In the information age,the video games represented by online games have become an important way of entertainment, and have a great impact on the lives of teenagers.Whether video games have educational value, what kind of games can promote learning, and how to combine learning with games, these problems are worthy topics to investigate. In this study,we design a learning method based on sandbox game Minecraft, and discuss its feasibility and effectiveness.First of all, through the analysis of related literature, research status and related concepts of game-based learning is reviewed and discussed;secondly,we analyze the current situation and advantages of Minecraft and its application in education;third,we propose game-based collaborative learning mode based on Minecraft, summarize the design principles, design the learning process, learning strategies and evaluation methods of this mode, and design three teaching cases based on this mode. Finally, the rationality and validity of the mode are verified by the experimental study. The experimental results show that Minecraft can be effectively applied to teaching, and game-based collaborative learning based on Minecraft plays an active role in stimulating learning interest, enhancing learning motivation, cultivating teamwork ability, improving the ability to discover and solve problems, and training students’ creative thinking ability. On the other hand,in the learning mode, there are some problems, such as low learning efficiency and easy transfer of attention. This is one of the earliest studies to explore the education value of Minecraft in China, and this study propose the game based collaborative learning mode based on Minecraft creatively. It has some reference value for the research and application of educational games and game-based learning.
