Under the background of higher education reform,faculty development of universities has become the stimulations in pushing the reform pace.As the main part of teaching process,tutorial level and the whole faculty quality have an important effect on the talent training quality of universities.In 1960 s,American universities paid much attention to constructing faculty development center,and centers gradually formed the complete development system,accumulating rich experiences in designing items and contributing to the sustainable development of higher education of America.In 2011,our government introduced policies to support the construction of faculty development organizations.Then,top-grade universities started establishing faculty development center which will reflect their own characteristics.Based on the experiences of western universities,top-grade universities in China are trying to establish faculty development center,which is more institutional and organizational.Because of lacking experiences,the construction of faculty development center in China still have a long way to go.The article aims to deeply analyze the development status of faculty development center of top-grade universities in China.Through comparative analysis,the article concludes the construction model of constructing faculty development center.Comparing the cases of the five universities,the article summarized the development model of American University.Based on time dimension,I studied the influencing factor of different stages of this five centers,investigating the way to constructing faculty development center.The article regarded Xiamen University、Xian Jiaotong University、Harbin Institute of Technology as the case of China,choosing American Amherst University as the case of American universities.Based on the organization development theory,I analyzed the development status of the four cases in several items,such as organization structure,organization culture.Then I got two models,which are called “Professional-skill oriented” and “Department imbedding” models,and summarizing the common development model in China.By comparing Chinese universities and American universities,I analyzed the Service-oriented constructing model of Amherst,hoping to get some useful advices.And as for the influencing factor,because of the differences between universities,the influencing factors are diverse in different stages.Based on the influencing factor and the comparability of five universities,the thesis put forward several suggestions and advices for the constructing of universities in China.
