Faculty have a direct impact on the quality of higher education,teachers have a lot of ways to develop,but through the establishment of specialized faculty development agencies,using a standardized and sound long-term operation mechanism to continuously strengthen and promote the professional of faculty development,has become a common choice for the development of higher education around the world.The faculty development center of our country starts late,and is still in the early stage of construction,and its function is not fully understood.This paper analyzes the main functions of the contemporary faculty development center through the analysis of the development centers of the United States,the United Kingdom and China,and finds out the problems existing in the function development of the faculty development center in China through the comparison with the developed countries.To find the corresponding solution to the law,to promote the faculty development in China to enhance the quality of personnel training is of great significance.Based on the theory of structural function and adult learning,this paper searches and combs a large number of domestic and foreign literatures,investigates five national teachers' development demonstration centers in China,and uses literature research method,case study method and comparative research method.Research through the United States,Britain and China Faculty Development Center case study,around the three national faculty development center development process,function,affiliation and job set,division of powers and responsibilities,to carry out the project activities and other aspects of in-depth analysis.Summed up the main function of contemporary university faculty development center,through the comparison with the Anglo Americancountries faculty development center,to find out the differences between China and Western countries faculty development center,in-depth analysis of the problems existing in the process of effective play in the function of the faculty development center in China,Anglo American Development experience,combined with the characteristics of China's development.The advantages of creatively applied in China Center of faculty development,develop path belongs to the Chinese faculty development center function effectively.By analyzing the function of faculty development center in China,the United States and the United Kingdom,based on the basic teacher training and guidance,communication and consultation,teaching evaluation and feedback function,proposed the faculty development center should also have the promoting function of the scholarship of teaching,improve the professional quality of teachers,improve the level and quality of personnel training.It is found that the development of faculty development center in China is not complete in the process of functional development,organizational positioning and practice is not consistent with the job settings is not scientific and the central coverage is not wide and so on.In order to solve these problems,we find out the path of the function of faculty development center: perfect the construction mechanism of faculty development center;form the organizational culture which is unique to faculty development center;improve the institutional setting;strengthen teacher communication center and external communication cooperation.With a view to promoting the function of faculty development center in China to give full play to become an important part of the development of education and teaching in colleges and universities.
