Educators must be responsible for cultivating,protecting and enhancing the learning interest of middle school students,which is also their professional conscience.Nowadays,in the society of knowledge-based economy,the era of lifelong education has arrived.People must be lifelong learners in order to obtain sustainable development.A person's curiosity and interest in learning is related to the success of his life-long education and the development of the whole life.Middle school students are in the critical stage of the initial formation of outlook on life,world outlook and values.Their learning interest plays an important role in their academic success and development of lifelong learning interest.Meanwhile,the interest of middle school students is of great significance to the success of their English learning.Middle school students' English learning interest is unstable and can easily be stifled by the English teaching which violates the law of their somatopsychic development.Therefore,cultivating and caring for middle school students 'English learning interest have to be regarded as an important part of middle school English teaching reform and should be included as an important index in the evaluation of teachers' moral,ability,diligence and performance.This is not only the need to improve the quality of English teaching,but also vivid expression of people-oriented educational principles in English teaching.Confucius,Einstein and other Chinese and foreign sages have made profound insights on the interest of learning.Confucius,the first great educator in China,regarded learning with interest as a source of happiness in life.In order to eliminate the drawbacks of examination and achieve quality education-the educational objectives of developing practical knowledge of life skills,innovative spirit and innovative ability,the Ministry of Education promulgated the new curriculum standard of middle school English,which has regarded developing students' learning interest as the key to curriculum design.It can be said that these insights of philosophers and policies and regulations showed the importance of training middle school students' learning interest.However,due to a variety of factors,there are some unsatisfactory places in middle school English teaching.Many middle school students hate English learning.Realistic English teaching stifled some students' love of English learning,which made students' feelings change from the fresh and experimenting feeling to disgusted and fearful feeling to inimical emotion of English learning.Such a psychological circle will make students bungle their life and cause quality weakness disjointed with the global village.The paper starts with questions of learning interest of middle school students and designs the research topic.The author starts from the aspects of teachers and students,uses the questionnaire method,interview method and observation method,analyses the survey materials and draws a more reliable conclusion.Besides,the author puts forward some constructive suggestions on the further reform of middle school English teaching.
