Grammar is the internal rule of language,so the grammar teaching is an important part of foreign language teaching.However,as we can see from the theory and practice in China and abroad,grammar teaching has been in a wavering position in any study period.It's a quite controversial topic whether we should teach grammar in junior high school.There have been some great changes in grammar teaching in China.At first,English teachers put special emphasis on grammar so they regarded grammar as the guidance of English teaching so they made grammar the most important teaching content and made students do a number of grammar exercises.Afterwards,with the introduction of foreign language theories,English teachers began to put emphasis on listening and speaking skills so that they ignored grammar completely to focus only on students'communicative abilities.This caused the consequence that students' abilities to listen and speak were improved but the accuracy and appropriateness of language and the abilities to read and write were declined significantly.In recent years,English grammar teaching was reintroduced into teaching programs in China.How to teach English grammar efficiently so that students can master the language regularities and improve their abilities to use English comprehensively are the most urgent problems to be solved in English teaching.Task-based language teaching approach is one of the most popular teaching methods,which is also the hot spot of English teaching reform in China.However,compared with the research on task-based language teaching applied in reading,writing,and vocabulary and so on,the research on task-based language teaching applied in English grammar of junior high school is less because the traditional grammar teaching method has a profound influence on English teaching.The research try to discuss the problems existing in the traditional translation grammar teaching method and prove the effectiveness and feasibility of the task-based language teaching method applied in junior English grammar teaching by one-semester teaching experiment,survey and interview.It will discuss the following three questions:1.What are the problems existing in the current translation grammar teaching method and how do students accept it?2.Can it make up for deficiencies of grammar translation teaching method,improve the atmosphere at class and stimulate students' interest in learning English if we apply the task-based language teaching method to junior English grammar?3.Can it make up for deficiencies of grammar translation teaching method,improve the teaching efficiency and students' knowledge level of English grammar,so as to improve students' ability to use English comprehensively and enhance students'self-confidence in learning if we apply the task-based language teaching method to junior English grammar?On the basis of the study of grammar teaching and task-based language teaching method in China and abroad,the writer chose 105 students from two classes of an ordinary junior school as subjects of the one-semester task-based language teaching method applied in junior English grammar teaching experiment.Then the writer used SPSS 19.0 to make a deep data analysis of the scores from two tests and the questionnaires pre-experiment and after-experiment.After that,the writer chose ten students for the interview.The results of the research are as follows:1.The translation grammar teaching method denied the student's dominant position and the class is single,boring,which makes students generally lack the interest and initiative to learn grammar,as well as the enthusiasm of taking part in the class.The teaching efficiency is low,the grammar knowledge students have is poor,the polarization problem is obvious,and students all lack self-confidence in grammar learning.So students are not satisfied with traditional grammar teaching.2.It can effectively make up for deficiencies of grammar translation teaching method,change the single and boring situation,active the atmosphere at class and stimulate students' interest in learning English grammar so as to improve their initiative to learning and the enthusiasm to take part in the class if we apply the task-based language teaching method to junior English grammar.3.It can effectively make up for deficiencies of grammar translation teaching method,improve the teaching efficiency and students' knowledge level of English grammar and the phenomenon of polarization so as to improve students' ability to use English comprehensively and enhance students' self-confidence in learning if we apply the task-based language teaching method to junior English grammar.This research has theoretical significance and practical value.It is hoped that this study can provide reference and inspiration to junior English teachers in grammar teaching in order to help them to improve their English teaching efficiency.It is also helpful to provide theory reference for English grammar teaching and task-based language teaching.
