Reading is a very effective access to information and learning foreign languages.According to the New English Curriculum Standard,the center of EFL teaching should be students rather than teachers.However,in the actual EFL reading teaching,the central position of students has not been effectively highlighted.Therefore,in recent twenty years,some experts and advanced teachers put forward a new teaching model—guided learning plan.It takes guidance as a main way,self-learning as the core,and aims at inspiring students to discover and solve problems independently.Based on the theory of reading teaching and guided learning plan,the research goes deep into exploring the issue on the feasibility of guided learning plan in EFL reading teaching.The present study takes 119 sophomore from Tianmen Jingling Middle School as the subjects and adopts questionnaire and test as its instruments,aims to answer the following two questions:(1)Can guided learning plan applied in EFL reading teaching improve students'intrinsic motivation?(2)Can guided learning plan applied in EFL reading teaching improve students'reading achievement?The study set up the experimental class and the comparative class.The experimental class uses the guided learning plan in EFL reading teaching and the comparative class uses the traditional teaching method in EFL reading teaching.According to the results and analyses of the collected data during the action research,the results tell us:(1)The application of guided learning plan is useful for improving students' reading intrinsic motivation.(2)The application of guided learning plan can improve students' reading achievement.Based on the above findings,this study shows guided learning plan applied in EFL reading teaching has a positive effect and puts forward the following pedagogical suggestions for teachers.Firstly,keep on the principle that takes student as center,teacher as the guider.Secondly,strengthen classroom reflection.In addition,the research proposes some teaching implications,and also points out the limitations as well as suggestions to provide convenience for the further study.
