Listening is an important skill for junior high school students, while people spend less time in practicing it than in speaking, reading and writing. The main obstacle of junior high school students in listening is that they cannot find and decode the key points and key lexical chunks. This research is to apply chunk-based dictation into English listening to help students get the key information accurately and quickly so that improves their English listening-comprehension ability.This research is guided with instructional design method, which bases on chunk-based dictation. The author picks out 40 Grade-eight students in a junior high school in Hunnan district in Shenyang to design a listening class. The author chooses Unit8 English Week to design a listening class. After that,the author applies the instructional design into practice in a class of Grade eight to see how well it works.The author uses self-reflection, classroom observation and interview to analyze the effect of this class. It reveals that this class has a positive effect on students' listening learning. In this class, students behave more actively than before. They show great interests in English-listening. In addition, they think that this class can help them how to do when they are listening to a passage. |
