Reading comprehension is an important part of English teaching in senior high school. It is not only the comprehension of words and phrases, but also the comprehension of the whole reading material and the extension of emotion. However,in the teaching of reading, on the one hand, students are lack of initiative in reading.They are not interested in English reading and have the low level of motivation. On the other hand, teachers emphasis too much on the language knowledge and language skills, but they ignore the importance of emotional education.The English New Curriculum Standard puts forward that emotional attitude and value should be one of the teaching objectives to raise students' interest in learning and improve the ability of cooperating with others. Teachers should guide students to turn their interests into internal motivation. In this way, students can overcome difficulties and develop positive characters.Senior high school students are in the transition period where their cognitive abilities improve rapidly and they grow up as the teenagers with rich affection. The author chooses senior one students in Tianjin 95th Middle school as the research subjects. Based on questionnaire, observation and interview, the author masters the basic situations of students and reading teaching at present. In this research, the author makes an instructional design of Module4 A Lively City in Book one published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press from the view of emotional education.In this research, the author tries to improve the participation and arouse interests of students by adding to emotional education in pre-reading, while reading and post reading.The author analyzes and evaluates the significance and effect according to the observation of students,receiving supervisor's suggestion,classroom observation,interview and self reflection. The research findings show that emotional education can arouse and strengthen students' learning interests and improve the students'participation in reading teaching. What's more,the author gives some specific strategies about how to apply emotional education.
