Critique On Neoliberalism Government-University Relationship

With the establishment of Chinese socialist market economy system and the influence of western liberalism trend,free competition system was introduced into the education industry and the marketization of education gradually develop.However,the marketization of education would generate negative influences on education industry because of the confliction between the marketization nature and the education nature.From the perspective of neoliberalism and on the basis of analyzing educational nature,this paper believes that marketization of education led by neoliberalism will cause the alienation between government and university.Marketization of education will intensify educational equality,deviate educational function,erode educational sovereignty;therefore,makes the social stratum solid and people's dominant role hard to guarantee.If western neoliberalism becomes the mainstream idea of education development,education industry will became the ties between market consumption and production,and therefore changes the education nature.Basic education is the public goods which are featured by non-competitive and non-excludability.Thus,it should be protected by government;otherwise,series of problems would arise.The public goods nature of education requires that educational right should be protected by government,people receive fairly equal basic educational qualities and conditions,and educational equality be guaranteed.The class nature of education requires that the education sovereignty be kept within the government to ensure people's dominant role,and education aims to cultivate the builder and successor of Chinese socialism.Therefore,school,as the ideological main battle field could not be lost.
