Multimodal theory originated in Western countries in the 1990 s.Although the development history of this theory is not long,its related theories have been widely applied in language teaching and many other fields.The research on multimodal theory was marked with late start,it started from beginning of the 21 st century,and basically,the study on this theory is concerned mainly about the introduction of different corresponding theories.In recent years,the study of multimodal theory at home has gradually started with the continuous introduction of theory and some practical researches.It has also been applied in many specific fields.This thesis conducts a research on the combination of the application of computer-aided teaching and multiomodal theory in senior highs school English teaching.This thesis begins with the research background and significance of computer-aided teaching method.Then it introduces the related concepts of multimodal and computer-aided instruction theory and summarizes the research status of multimodal theory and computer-aided teaching at home and abroad.It describes the status quo of English teaching in senior high school English and the main problems within computer-aided application in senior high school English classes.Based on the current situation,a research is carried out on the computer-aided teaching in senior high school English classes.During the course of the survey,the author verified the feasibility and effectiveness of high school English computer-aided teaching and its advantages and disadvantages as well as the views of students and teachers on it from the perspective of multi-modality theory with the help of teaching observation and questionnaires.Also,it gives an analysis and in-depth research on the problems observed in the classroom.This thesis focuses on two problems:(1)Can the computer-aided instruction under the multimodal perspective improve students' positiveness in learning English? What impacts do the computer-aided instruction from the prospective of multimodal theory exert on the English learning of senior high school students?(2)What are the viewpoints of teachers and students on the application of computer-assisted teaching,respectively?Based on the number of relevant materials,the author studied the relevant theories of computer-aided teaching including constructivism,multimodal discourse analysis,computer-aided teaching and behaviorism carefully.The author conducted a survey through classroom observation,questionnaires and interviews,and analyzed the results in a systemic manner.Through survey and researches,it is found the students claimed that the computer-aided instruction which is done under the guidance of the multimodal theory could improve their positiveness of learning English and could broaden their knowledge.The results of the questionnaires also showed that,generally speaking,the computer-aided teaching method,from the perspective of multi-modal,is more suitable for students.It can improve students' academic performance as well as the learning initiative of the students.Therefore,revelant conclusion is secured through afore-mentioned researches compared with the traditional and single teaching model.It is found that if computer-aided teaching is applied,the learning positiveness of the students will be improved greatly.The real teaching environment is conducive to the long-term development of students' language proficiency.And the application of computer-aided teaching in senior high school can broaden the students' knowledge,and enhance students' language application capability.In summary,this thesis,through surveys and researches,basically attains its target.The computer-aided teaching model has certain advantages during the whole process of senior high school English classes.It can not only enhance the learning positiveness of the students dramatically but also can cultivate students' interest in learning English.This thesis aims to offer some inspiration and reference for high school English classroom teaching.
