| With the continuous development of multimedia teaching,the forms of classroom discourse is no longer confined to the language itself.Image,sound,color and other signals that have utterance meanings have gradually been valued.As the main carrier of the multimedia classroom,PPT is full of abundant symbol system with typical characteristic of multiple modal.This research project is based on the theory of multimodal discourse analysis which stem from social semiology.It aims to investigate the status of multimodal PPT in the application of high school English teaching by the sample analysis,questionnaire,interview,experiment and some other empirical research methods,which have practiced some related theories of multimodal classroom utterance and provided reference for improving the validity of foreign language classroom teaching by multimedia.Firstly,in the stage of sample analysis,this study finds that the PPT of English course has more multiple modals,more reasonable modal collocation and more consistent structure than other subjects.However,the range of its modal collaboration is narrow and its graphic correlation should be strengthened.In the stage of questionnaire survey and interview,this study finds that teachers and students have high expectations and much positive attitude toward PPT teaching from multiple perspectives including the teachers’ and students’ attitude toward the PPT teaching,the assessment of multimodal in PPT design,the expectations of PPT teaching in the future and so on.Compared with traditional teaching,PPT teaching with multimodal can help to stress teaching keypoints,improve students’ enthusiasm for English learning and create more authentic language environment.But there are still some problems,for example,the production technology of PPT should be improved urgently.Interactivity is not embodied enough in the content of PPT,which may easily increase the burden of teachers’ preparation for class.Secondly,this study adds a traditional class without PPT is compared with a class using multimodal PPT on the basis of the research about the correlation between PPT teaching and learning attitudes,it further verified that the multimodal PPT teaching can make positive contribution to students’ learning attitudes.Finally,this study provides some reasonable suggestions from the perspective of teachers and schools to make up the weaknesses of English teaching with multimodal PPT in high school. |
