In 2001,the New National English Curriculum Standard was issued by the Ministry of Education of China and advocated implementing Task-based Language Teaching(TBLT)in the process of teaching.TBLT emphasizes that English teachers should lead students to practicing,communicating and cooperating with others,so as to develop students’ language capacities in reality.Recommendations for the implementation of TBLT have a far-reaching influence on the English teaching in China,which plays a positive role.However,there are various difficulties in teachers’ implementations of TBLT,especially in senior high school.The prospects for the implementation of TBLT are not going well.Therefore,investigations on implementations of TBLT in senior high schools are imperative.This paper aims to investigate the implementation of TBLT in senior high schools from the perspective of English teacher,focusing on English teachers’ perceptions of TBLT along with the difficulties and constraints that hinder the effective implementation of TBLT.The research questions are as follows:1.What are senior high school English teachers’ perceptions of TBLT?2.What are the difficulties that constrain English teachers’ implementing TBLT effectively in senior high school?The paper has solved the above questions by inviting 107 English teachers in Jinzhou senior high schools to complete the questionnaires.Six of all participants are asked to participate in the interviews.And the data is collected by utilizing quantitative and qualitative research method.Conclusions are draw by the analysis of these data.The results of this investigation show that most of English teachers have realized the positive effects of TBLT and master basic knowledge related to TBLT.However,some English teachers still have some misunderstandings and misconceptions with regard to TBLT.Thus,it is difficult for English teachers to truly implement TBLT in their classrooms.Beyond that,the investigation discovers that English teachers encounter various difficulties in their implementations of TBLT,which largely limit the supposed effects of TBLT.These difficulties stem from three dimensions,which are the educational system,the teachers,and the students.English teachers in senior high schools hold that there are still some difficulties and problems in fully implementing TBLT in schools and agree that TBLT will only play a positive role if various problems are solved in advance.
