On December 29,2015,two years after the introduction of the two-child policy(which allows couples to have a second child if either parent is an only child),the fifth Plenary Session of the 18 th CPC Central Committee has announced the release of an universal two-child policy.As the population growth trend has weakened and the sized of aged population is soaring,the universal two-child policy will help dealing with the trend,sustain economic growth and maintain a stable social environment.However,there are still some controversy over the outcome of this new policy.The social status of women worldwide has experienced a significant improvement and the protection of women’s rights has attracted massive attention since the mid twentieth Century,with the development and in-depth study in western feminism.As the major participants in the process of the implementation of the universal two-child policy,women’s behavior would directly affect its the results.Therefore,a comprehensive analysis of the impact of the universal two-child policy on women’s rights and feasible countermeasures against the negative effects has significant practical and academic value to the implementation of the universal two-child policy.The main focuses of this paper are the impact of the universal two-child policy on women’s rights and its countermeasures.The introduction part describes the research background,significance of the topic,research status,research content and methods and research innovation.The first part describes the concept and theory relate to the analysis of the universal two-child policy and women’s rights.The second and third parts analyze the positive and negative effects of the universal two-child policy on women’s personal,employment,marriage and family and social security rights respectively.On this basis,the fourth part offers feasible measures to the protection of women’s personal,employment,marriage and family and social security rights under the universal two-child policy,and provides suggestions for relevant government departments to promote gender equality and the overall effectiveness of the universal two-child policy.
