The traditional classroom-based teaching is the main stream in our country.Although it is highly efficient than others,the effect is different from student to student.However,under the framework of the current classroom-based teaching,there have been significant differences in learning among the students of the same class.On the other hand,teachers just take into account the average learning ability of the students when setting teaching goals,designing class activities and assignments.As a result,advanced students find English learning boring,and the students with lower learning ability lose interest and confidence in learning English,for they cannot reach the target requirement.Stratified teaching mode puts forward the idea of respecting the individual differences of each student,and setting different goals for students of different levels.In other words,in order to stimulate students' learning enthusiasm and to enable students to develop adequately,it is necessary for teachers to have a full understanding of their students' varied learning foundation,learning habits and learning interest,and then carry out the teaching according to the students' conditions.In this research,the writer attempts to apply the stratified teaching mode in the junior English reading teaching to see how it works.This thesis is based on the theory of level teaching,and it relates to the experiment the writer conducts in the English class,with a view to enhance students' English learning and improve the efficiency of classroom English teaching.It holds that the stratified teaching mode can help the students' personality development of the students and exhibit educational equality.
