This paper studies the funeral culture among Chahar Mongols from the perspective of Cultural Anthropology.Based on first-hand materials collected through author's ethnographic fieldwork research and literature documents,the article tries to analyze the funeral process,its space,objects and folkways with " Rites de passage" theory as well as symbolic Anthropology.Being as an important life ritual,the Funeral culture expresses the social religion and structure of social communication and reflects not only the belief of the people but also the inherent nature of Mongolia culture..The paper is consist of the four parts:introduction,the body part(one to three chapters),conclusion and appendix.The introduction mainly introduces the purpose of the study,the significance of the study,the components of the ceremony,previous studies on rituals,symbol and Mongolian funerals.Secondly,in the first chapter,the author briefly introduces the field research site--Baoshudai Sum in ShuLuunhuh Banner,and describes the process and folkway of the funeral ceremony.In second chapter,the author talk about impact of one's pass away to his or her family,relatives,and social relations.The third chapter analyzes the symbolic meaning of ceremony objects and related behaviors,and interprets,Chahar Mongols attitudes toward life and nature.In the conclusion part,the author summarizes the life values of the Chahar mongols and the consciousness of returning to nature after death.The appendix attached some photos and interviews from fieldwork research.
