In China,the incidence of Chinese dyslexia children is 5%to 10%.They could not read effectively like normal children.Word segmentation is the first important process during reading while there is no clear decoration between words in normal Chinese reading.So,here is the question,can they identify the word smoothly and correctly like normal children?Can they segment words correctly?A study of the Combined Raven Test and Test of Recognized Characters for the Pupil did in three,four,five grade from two primary schools in Tianjin.According to their test results,We got three kind of participants,10 reading disorder pupil,12 of the age matched group and 13 of the ability matched group.Study two,the experimental design is single factor with three levels(participants,reading disorder group,the ability matched group,age matched group).There are 30 sentences in this task and the task was to segment these sentences into words.As a result,on the score and accuracy,dyslexia children was significantly lower than the other two groups;and there is no significantly difference between the age matched group and the ability matched group.Study three,the experimental design is single factor with three levels(participants,reading disorder group,the ability matched group,age matched group).There are 30 sentences in this task and the task was to judge the word segmentation in the sentence.As a result,on the accuracy,dyslexia children are significantly lower than the other two groups;and there is no significantly difference between the age matched group and the ability matched group.Study four,the experimental design is a mixed design:3(participants,reading disorder group,age matched group and the ability matched group)x 2(stroke,simple and complex)x 2(structure,the left and right,top and bottom).Participants were asked to find wrong word segmentation in the sentence.The results showed that on the score and accuracy,dyslexia children were significantly lower than the other two groups.Simple stroke is significantly below the complicated;the left and right structure is significantly below the top and bottom.Study five,the experimental design is single factor experiment with three levels(participants,reading disorder group,the ability matched group and age matched group).The task was to use the "|" to segment the story into words.As a result,on the score and accuracy,dyslexia children was significantly lower than the other two groups;and there was no significantly difference between the age matched group and the ability matched group.Under the condition of this research,following conclusion could be reached.(1)The word segmentation Ability of dyslexia children is lower than the normal children.(2)In a sentence,the simple words are easier to identify than the complicated words.the top and bottom structure of the words are easier to identify than the left and right structure of the words.(3)In a sentence,the top and bottom structure of the words are easier to identify than the left and right structure of the words.
