The Experimental Study On Illustration Effect Of Expository Essay

Illustration as a presentation of information,combined with the expository essay,has the function of promoting information coding and deep processing.But with the arrival of the era of" illustration reading ",faced with massive illustrations,it is an urgent problem to be solved that what kind of illustrations should be selected or designed to promote learners' memory,comprehension and learning effect.Therefore,on the basis of analysising a large number of study about illustrations effect,this study finds that it is not enough to consider the relationship among type of knowledge,characters and illustrations,both illustration notes and indicative guide elements lack of in-depth study and so on.Then,in order to study the influence factors of illustration effect,three experimental studys were designed:study on the influence of Illustrations type,previous experience and knowledge type,the influence of note type and knowledge type,the effect of indicative elements guide.The study based on the theories of the dual coding theory,cognitive load theory and multimedia learning theory,selecting eye movement experiment and cognitive behavior experiment as the main research methods.This study explores the illustration effect in expository essay,in order to provide some references for the application and practice of teaching.The main contents of this research were as follows:(1)The type of illustrations affect illustrations effect significantly,compared with no illustrations and pictures.In figure note illustrations group,the learner's memory,migration and the overall learning effect is best,Eye Movement index:Total Fixation Duration and Fixation Count are the most,illustration effect is the best.(2)Type of note influence illustration effect significantly,the function process note has the best learning effect and the longest Total Fixation Duration and Fixation Count.That is to say,the learners take this type of chart seriously and the degree of information processing is the highest.Detailed note is middle,followed by structure name note.(3)The effects of different types of knowledge match different types of note for illustration effect remarkably.When factual knowledge with detailed note,conceptual knowledge with structure name note or function process note,procedural knowledge with function process note,learners' learning effect is the best,the learners' interest and information processing level are the highest,and then the illustration effect is the best.(4)The indicative elements to guide the illustration effect is not significant,but it relatively improved illustrations learning effect,enhance the level of information processing.The learners' previous experience has no significant effect on the illustration effect.
