| Expository essay uses expository expressions to illustrate the text, explain things and elaborate affairs. Expository essay occupies a very important position in Chinese learning materials for junior high schools with its concise expressions, accurate descriptions and intelligible explanations to make things clear, which is a combination of Chinese humanism and a powerful description tool. Accordingly, expository essay is of great pedagogical value. Based on relevant descriptions of expository essay curriculum standard and classifications of relevant teaching materials, try to explain the educational value of expository essay for junior high school students expecting to be able to make some suggestions to expository essay education.Introduction is about some major issues such as:the origin of the question, the purpose and significance of the research, current research status, theory choosing and research methods. The first chapter introduces educational value of expository essay theoretically, including the meaning, basic characteristics and basic contents of educational value of expository essay. The second chapter exemplifies expository essays from Chinese teaching material for junior high school published by Jiangsu publication house and mainly deals with arts and humanities, science and technology and natural biology. The third chapter focuses on the evolution of educational value of expository essay and it mainly discusses expository essay’s historical evolution in four aspects such as stylistic value of knowledge, value of capacity, personalized character value, as well as aesthetic value. Chapter four makes some suggestions to educational value of expository essay mainly from stimulating students’ interests, developing the ability of processing information provided in an expository essay, how to practice and improving students’ appreciating abilities of verbal accuracy in an expository essay. |
