The Background Of University’s Top Leaders And Strategic Decision Of The Internationalization

With the deepening of economic golobalization and the inherent demand of the development of higher education in China,the globalized level of higher education has increasingly become the focus of our nation,society,colleges,and universities,as well as students and parents.The university,whose leadership plays an irreplaceable role in the formulation and implementation of the organization’s policies,has a similar organizational structure like enterprises and other social organizations.As the university’s leadership,the President and Party Secretary,who will influence and even directly determine the school reform and programing,makes a far-reaching significance in the development of the school.How to make decisions and what desicions to make is a comprehensive product of personal values and cognitive abilities based on their personal background and experiences.So it is a practical topic to be discussed what kind of background the university leaders have and that they can promote the establishment and implementation of the internalization strategy.This study selects the top 112 universities in the "URI-2014" ranking list of internalization as the research object,namely the President and Party Secretary of 112 universities in China;the background information,including demographic,education,occupation,etc,is collected through the official websites of the universities and the website of the Ministry of education with the assistance of search engines;hypothesis of the relationship between the background information of university leaders and the strategy of internalization are made;the descriptive characteristics of university leadership are analyzed with the empirical method and coefficient and regression analysis are conducted;finally,possible suggestions on the selection and appointment of university leaders will be made based on the data analysis and conclusions will also be summarized.This study is mainly divided into the following parts:firstly,through the analysis of the relationship between leadership background and strategic decision and the important trends of the internationalization of colleges and universities,the background and significance of this study are elaborated and the correlation and effects of situational variables between the research background and the international leadership strategy are put forward;secondly,combing the relevant literature at home and abroad and starting from the three dimensions of the influence the university leaders have on the develoment of universities,the background characteristics of university leaders and the internationalization drives of modern universities,the research results of relevant areas and conclusions are summarized and briefly evaluated;thirdly,the theoretical basis and the research hypothesis of this thesis are narrated.The higher order theory and its application to the analysis of enterprise and University leadership are introduced.According to the research ideas,8 further hypotheses are put forward;fourth,conduct the research and make the sources of data clear.The basis of sample selection and the research methods used in this paper are illuminated.Meanwhile,the selection,classification,coding and measurement of variables are introduced.Fifth,conduct the empirical research and data analysis.On the one hand,a descriptive statistics on the university leadership background characteristics is made.On the other hand,the correlated coefficient and the regression results of the leaders are explained;finally,summarize according to the empirical results.Analysis of reasons for the influence of university leadership background characteristics of internationalization strategy and the effect of the adjusting variables are conducted and the suggestions for the selection of the President and Secretary of universities are made.The inadequacies of this article and the direction of future efforts will also be reflected on.
