English has been still one of the main subjects in College Entrance Examination,in which reading comprehension takes up the largest portion.Therefore,reading comprehension can largely test students' language ability.However,influenced by various factors,many problems still exist in today's teaching of reading.It further discusses whether the use of reading strategies is effective or not.In current national testing papers,for example,direct examination questions of reading comprehension account for 40 points in total.In addition,completion,filling in the blanks and proof-reading appear in the form of discourse.On the background of English socialization of the college entrance examination gradually,it is necessary for high school students to master the reading strategies earlier and come into practice.For further study on effectiveness of reading strategies in senior high school students' ability,it is argued how the reading strategies are used,on the basis of relevant theories in reading strategies,through the questionnaire,pretest and interview.In teaching practice,the author chooses two classes at the same level.One is the experimental class and the other is comparative class.In the usual teaching,reading strategies training was administrated to experimental class for three months and then through the post-test and interview,the findings have evidenced that the experimental class on reading strategies use perform much better than those in the comparative class.Relevant experimental data show that:(1)the students' reading speed is quicker and more accurate in solving problems;(2)the students' awareness of reading strategies has been enhanced;(3)slow students' confidence of reading comprehension has been improved as well;(4)students' task-based reading comprehension was strengthened;(5)the students have made obvious progress in the structural and logical analysis between sentences and sentences and paragraphs.As a result,reading strategies training has a positive effect on cultivating their reading ability in a context of senior high school.Based on research aforementioned,this dissertation recommends some suggestions for future reading teaching:(1)need to improve teachers' theoretical level;(2)attach importance to the discourse teaching and change traditional ideas;(3)develop students' reading habitsand enhance the awareness of reading strategies;(4)improve students' ability of cooperation;(5)focus on middle and low students' learning method as well as their emotion tendency,meanwhile enlarge the number of vocabularies by various means.
