The sports industry originated in Britain,and was followed in the Euramerica,with the acceleration of industrialization and urbanization of the world,especially after World War Ⅱ,the western countries’ economies have developed rapidly,the sports industry is showing strong momentum in a growing number of countries,energetically developing the sports industry has become an international trend.British sports industry has long been a leader in the world,with many lessons to learn from.This paper tries to analyze the characteristics of British sports industry based on the development of British sports industry after World War Ⅱ,in order to deepen the understanding of the sports industry.The paper can be divided into six major parts:The foreword briefly introduces the main reasons and the significance for the choice of this topic,the present situation of the academic research in and abroad.The first chapter introduces the relevant concepts of the sports industry.In terms of concept,the sports industry itself contains two important concepts,namely "sport"and "industry",it decided to the concept of the sports industry is a two-dimensional structure,which gives the sports industry culture,economy and other properties,the concept of the sports industry is the sum of the industries that produce physical or spiritual sports products and provide sports services.In terms of classification,there are two types of classifications in Britain:The first method divides the sports industry into sports service industry and sports goods manufacturing according to the nature of the goods;the second method divides the sports industry into main industries,supporting industries and relevant industries,according to the position of the industry in the structure of sports industry.The second chapter focuses on the development of British sports industry after World War II.The development of British sports industry has gone through three stages:The mid-19th century to the mid-20th century was the embryonic stage of British sports industry,After the outbrecak of the second industrial revolution,sports appeared on the stage of British history as an industrial activities,the commercialization of sports clubs and the emergence of sports companies were two important features of this stage;the 1950s to the 1980s was the stage of development of British sports industry,British sports industry began to enter the fast lane of development after World War Ⅱ,in this stage of development,professional sports industry has become the dominant industry in the British sports industry;the 1990s to the early 2000s was the mature stage of British sports industry,the advent of the knowledge economy had changed the life-style of human,British residents were enthusiastic about the sport,against this background,British leisure sports industry has move beyond professional sports industry,and become the dominant industry in the British sports industry.The third chapter mainly discusses the development characteristics of British sports industry after World War Ⅱ.First of all,the sports industry has made more contributions in Britain,especially in promoting the economic development,creating more employment opportunities and stimulating domestic demand,has made a very important contribution to the national economy;second,the main emphasis of the structure of British sports industry gradually shift to service industry;third,the sports industry began to capitalize,Britain has built a relatively stable capital market for the sports industry,and a large number of limited-liability companies of sport have financed from stock market in Britain;finally,the sports industry is becoming more international,specific performance for the internationalization of sports events,sports organizations and sports companies.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the causes of British sports industry boom after World War Ⅱ.It is no accident that British sports industry has achieved such a development,but it is the result of a combination of economic,social and cultural factors:First of all,Sports For All in Britain promotes the development of British sports industry;Secondly,British sports industry has formed a development mode which relies on consumption and innovation,the transformation of demand structure and development mode greatly enhances the core competitiveness of British sports industry;Finally,British sports industry has formed a management model which is taken market as the dominant and assisted by the government and the sports association,this management model is in line with the characteristics of Britain,and is an inevitable choice for British sports industry.The conclusion gives a summary to the four preceding chapters,and extract some experiences that can be borrowed:Improving the understanding of the sports industry from the height of the new growth areas of the national economy;making the sports service industry as the leading,and upgrade the industrial structure;aiming to expand domestic demand and improve the structure of industrial demand;improving the quality of the sports industry by the intensive development mode;establishing a management model that is managed by the market and the government;adhering to the sustainable development of the sports industry.While learning advanced experience,we should also insist on specific issue concrete analysis and actively explore a path of development with Chinese characteristics.
