Social-work Intervene Institutional Elderly-care

Currently,China has a high aging population,and is confronted with the increasingly serious problems such as a large elderly population base,rapid growth,aging,and the empty nest syndrome.China continues to change its model to care for the elderly,the role of institutional elderly-care has become increasingly prominent in the recent years,they are spring up throughout the country.While institutional elderly-care paly their role to the fullest,many problems have also emerged.The intervention of professional methods in the regime of social-work into institutional elderly-care will answer this question very well.According to the notification requirements issued from the Civil Affairs Department and the Development and Reform Commission regarding “Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region’s plan for the construction of the elderly-care service system during the 13 th Five-Year Plan period”,by the year of 2020,the autonomous region will basically finish building an elderly-care service network with public agency elderly-care as the model example,other forms of social elderly-care agencies as the core,in-home elderly-care as the basis,community-service elderly-care as support,and institutional elderly-care as supplement.Meanwhile,due to China’s realistic factors that there exist many obstacles along the development of in-home elderly-care and community based elderly-care,thus,vigorous development of institutional elderly-care,and improving its service system is imminent.In this paper,we use professional methods in the field of social-work to intervene institutional elderly-care,while extensively utilizing the advantages of the social-work profession,we actively explore the direction of development of local senior social-work,and how to improve the service quality in elderly-care agencies to meet the diverse needs of seniors.2013.8.The first chapter of this article first introduces the historical evolution of Baotou City and the development of elderly(including the basic situation of the Y nursing home).Secondly,we especially introduce and analyze the problems existing in the elderly-care work of the Y nursing home from approximately five aspects.Through investigation and research,the author found that the variety of the service content at the nursing home is single,and it is very difficult to meet the diver service demands of the elderly;the professional level of the nursing home staff is low,which indirectly leads to the lag of development of the institution;the unsound infrastructure not only affects the quality of life for the elderly,but also increased the security risks.Again,the problem of the elderlies in the Y nursing home themselves is described in extensive detail.Including physical functional problems,mental health problems,the shackles of obsolete ideas,the lack of the sense of security caused by insufficient materialistic conditions and other issues.The second chapter of this article is the pathway which social-work can intervene institutional elderly-care.This chapter is mainly divided into two parts,the first part is the practical research of the intervention of group social-work methods into institutional elderly-care,the author designed group activities targeting senior groups,the purpose is to enrich the elderly’s personal lives,to ease the bad mood of the elderly,enhance the enthusiasm of the elderly to participate in collective activities,increase the elderlies’ confidence in life.Through the group activities,enrich the mental life of the elderly,improve their monotone lifestyle,tap into their potential and bring happy experiences for the elderly.The second part is the intervene research of single case studies,the subject server carries out service for a new member of the nursing home,mainly focusing on adaptability problems,that is,how to adapt to life at the nursing home faster and better.Through the investigation and evaluation of the case subject,and continued follow-up service,the case subject can quickly adapt to the environment of the nursing home,achieving the initial case goal.In the third chapter of this paper,while solving the existing problems institutional elderly-care,we put forward a series of reasonable suggestions for the development elderly-care agencies through intervening institutional elderly-care with social-work.The problems that social institutions need to pay attention when intervening elderly-care agencies,as well as reflecting on ways to further improve,we make recommendations from four main aspects facing the current development problems of elderly care agencies,and fully discuss the necessity of social-work involvement in elderly-care,and the significance it has on promoting the development of elderly care agencies.Through investigation and research,the author believes that involvement of social work into elderly care agencies not only improves the institutional elderly care system,is an outstanding embodiment of humanistic management,but also is an important initiative to move social-work from theory to practice,and improve societal recognition of social-work and the social-work professionals.Also through professional service of social work,active intervene the physical,psychological and spiritual aspects institutional elderlies,while improving the physical living conditions of seniors,enrich the mental life of the elderly at the same time,so that seniors’ lives are no longer monotone and tedious,but truly enjoyable,really let the seniors in the elderly care agencies “be looked after properly,have fun,have support,and accomplish”.
