A comparative analysis of Chinese textbooks is an important way to improve Chinese teaching. This thesis researches on two sets of Chinese textbooks.One that has five volumes is published by People's Education Press and named as the experimental textbook for curriculum standards of senior high schools. And the other that has six volumes is published by Hanlin publishing Co.Ltd.The former is most popular with senior high schools in mainland China.So is the later in Taiwan.This thesis comparatively analyzes their compilation with the method of literature research comparative analysis and data study expecting to providing some favorable experience for future textbooks compilation of our mother tongue.First of all, it takes a comparative analysis of two sets of Chinese textbooks from aspects of their physical properties and basic structures.Then it does that in terms of a textbook's four subsystems.After my research,I find that they have similarities and differences in compilation.Their main contents are about remarkable ancient Chinese articles.Textbooks of Hanlin publishing company have more detailed warming-up contents and their illustrations are more exquisite,while textbooks of People's education press has an advantage in interpretation of text.These two both have their advantages and shortcomings.What they have to do is learning from each other.They should foster strengths and circumvent weakness in order to improve textbooks compilation.
