The research described in this paper was carried out based on modern educational theories and through the means of literature review,on-site observation,statistical approach and interviewing.After introducing the general information about the classical Chinese in Chinese textbooks of junior middle schools,the paper first analyzed the status quo of classical Chinese teaching in those schools,and then pointed out the problems confronted by teachers and students in their teaching and learning new lessons,review lessons and commentary lessons of classical Chinese.Next,it made a feasibility analysis with respect to providing guidance on independent classical Chinese.learning,and argued that students shall be encouraged to learn classical Chinese in an independent,cooperative and exploratory manner by evoking their enthusiasm of voluntary learning and encouraging them to make personalized interpretation and in-depth explorations;it also specially stressed the positive roles of teachers in the process.Finally,the paper proposed some efficient teaching strategies in providing guidance on independent classical Chinese learning,namely giving guidance to junior students in terms of the accumulation of classical Chinese knowledge,the cultivation of language intuition,and the development of extension ability,so as to provide some feasible methods for the students to follow in their independent learning of classical Chinese.
