As is pointed out in the Newly-issued Senior English Curriculum Standards,the basic ideas of Senior English Curriculum include attaching importance to common foundation,setting up a platform for developing,providing multiple options,being adjusted to personal requirements,optimizing learning methods,improving autonomous learning abilities,focusing on students' emotion,promoting their humanistic quality,perfecting evaluation system,and facilitating their continuous development.The curriculum also emphasizes that the fundamental knowledge of English language that the students should learn and master includes phonetics,vocabulary,grammar,function,and topics.In this case,grammar is an important part and a main line of teaching English.During the teaching reform,it is significant for teachers to do research on how to implement the principles of the Curriculum Standards and apply effective teaching modes to teaching grammar.In recent years,with the development of internet technology,flipped classroom appears overseas and is soon introduced to China,which offers a new way to continue the teaching reform.However,after reading the literature concerning flipped classroom,the author of present thesis finds that there is only a little application research on the new teaching method in teaching English grammar.Therefore,applying flipped classroom in teaching grammar in Senior High School is chosen as a cut-in.Thus,two research questions are raised in this study: 1.What effect will the application of flipped classroom have on the students when teaching grammar? In what aspects? 2.What are the feedbacks from students for flipped classroom?This research is carried out under the guidance of theories and practice of flipped classroom at home and abroad.Two classes of first-year senior high school students were chosen as research subject for four months of experiment with questionnaires and interviews.Flipped classroom mode was adopted in experimental class while traditional method was employed in control class.SPSS20.0 was used to analyze the result data collected from the experiment.The experiment result shows that the flipped classroom mode not only helps relieve the anxiety of students in learning grammar,arouses the interest of the students in learning English,but also improves their autonomous learning ability,enriches their learning strategies and promotes their academic performance and language proficiency.Meanwhile this new teaching mode is popular with the students.In addition,the author of the present thesis also points out some problems in the practice of the flipped classroom to teach grammar and put forward the solutions to them.This study proves that it is successful and applicable to apply the flipped classroom mode in teaching English grammar in Senior High School.
