English is playing a more and more important role in modern society and it has become one of the most important subjects in school.Vocabulary,as one of three factors(phonetics,vocabulary,grammar)of the language,is the building materials of the language,which is the pillar of the language,and is also the premise and foundation to develop the other gift of tongues.It plays an important role in people's communicative activities and is also the core of English teaching.The proportion of English vocabulary in NMET is enough to explain its importance,which means much higher requirements for English vocabulary teaching have been put forward in school.However,the traditional English vocabulary teaching is centered on teachers.The teachers spend most time in explaining the language points and neglect the training of students' independent learning ability.Students are just the passive receivers,who can't actively participate in the vocabulary teaching process.Gradually,they lose their interest in English learning.Therefore,the author tries to apply the Guided Learning Plan teaching model to English vocabulary class in senior high school to change vocabulary learning attitude,to enhance their vocabulary learning interest,to learn some vocabulary learning techniques and improve vocabulary achievement.This thesis is aimed to prove applying the Guided Learning Plan teaching model to English vocabulary class can enhance the students' independent learning ability,arouse their vocabulary learning interest,learn some vocabulary learning strategies and improve vocabulary achievement through teaching experiment research and questionnaire survey,which includes 120 students of two classes.The experiment lasted for one term,and during the experiment process,the experiment were used such as pre-questionnaire,post-questionnaire,pre-test and post-test.Through careful collection and analysis,we can get the results that student in experimental class where the Guided Learning Plan teaching model was adopted for one term can improve their vocabulary learning ability significantly.The result also indicates that Guided Learning Plan teaching is an effective way of teaching vocabulary.This thesis consists of five chapters.Chapter one is a detailed introduction,including the importance of English and English vocabulary teaching in senior high school.It provides background for the research.Chapter two is a literature review where the definition of learning plan and Guided Learning Plan teaching,the theoretical bases and related research of Guided Learning Plan are described in detail.Chapter three makes an elaboration on teaching experiment.Chapter four is the data analysis and discussion.Chapter five is the conclusion of the thesis,which includes the major findings and limitations of the experiment.
