An Initial Study On The Careers Education Of Secondary Schools In The United Kingdom

The rapid development of contemporary society,and the dramatic changes of professional type and structure open the gap between school education and job market. At the same time, the rapid expansion of the education scale.and the increasement of graduates make the students face with ever more severe employment situation.Then how to help students understand themselves and the working life,how to train the students' ability of careers planning and management,how to choose the right road for themselves.are critical. Therefore, many countries in the world construct the career education system which has been carried out from primary school to university, and among which, the basic education stage is particularly valued. Moreover, UK established a mature system of careers education in secondary school, and accumulated rich theoretical results and practical experience.Taking the careers education of secondary school in UK as the research object, this paper may conduct a comprehensive and systematical research by studying the history current situation, problems, to gain useful experience and enlightenment. From four stages:rise, development, reform and improvement in the history of the careers education of secondary schools, the paper introduces the present situation from aspects of system and implementation. Some existing problems are also pointed out in this paper. On this basis, the paper summarizes the basic experience of secondary school careers education, as well as the enlightenment of how to develop careers education of secondary school in our country.
