Examples and exercises are the important part of textbooks.They are an effective way to achieve the teaching goal.Therefore,the study of textbooks compiled on examples and exercises,and usage have important significance and value.This article chooses PEP version senior Physics textbook and American <physics: principles and problems> “electromagnetism” part examples and exercises make a comparative study,and makes a using case study on examples and exercises of PEP version senior Physics textbook.The research content includes: one study: from two dimensions of surface features and difficulty of comprehensive comparative examples and exercises of the textbooks.Surface characteristics including: columns,quantity,types,illustrations,background,answer mode,comprehensive difficulty levels including four factors,goal level,knowledge content,reasoning,operation level.And the other study: from use,evaluation,and suggested three dimensions to investigate the usage of textbook examples and exercises.By comparing the text research and questionnaire survey research,obtain the following main conclusions:(1)Section features: In “electromagnetism” chapter,PEP textbook chapters divided into teaching materials in detail the specific than the American textbook,and includes more section contains.(2)The examples characteristics:(1)The textbooks appear examples after the key knowledge configuration,But the quantity is less,giving priority to with math question;(2)On illustrations,PEP textbook has more model diagram in the dry,the American textbook analysis diagram.(3)On the background,PEP textbook contains “application of science and technology” background more,the American textbook is given priority to with “pure knowledge background”.(4)On answer mode,PEP textbook greats importance to the analysis of the problem solving thinking,overall more words;The American textbook answer pattern is fixed,the solution steps are clear and complete.After the examples follow the examination site similar “practicing” exercises columns.(5)On comprehensive difficulty,the textbooks examples’ target all in the “understanding” and “application” level,PEP textbook examples have higher on “the content of knowledge” and “reasoning level”,“operation” level is low,on the whole,the comprehensive teaching difficulty of PEP textbook examples is higher than the American textbook.(3)Features exercises:(1)In the column and numbers,PEP textbook exercises columns is single,no problem at the end of the chapter,the average saving has six exercises;The American textbook exercises columns are rich,there are exercises in the textbook and at the end of the chapter section,the average savings has 16 exercises,but the exercises of the same knowledge is more,not enough concise.(2)On the topic,textbooks have rich questions,still given priority to with mach and short-answer questions;(3)On the illustration,PEP textbook contains a larger number exercise’s illustration,gives priority to with schematic diagram;exercise’s illustration of the American textbook is less,gives priority to with model diagram.(4)On the background,PEP textbook contains “application of science and technology” background is more,the American textbook contains “experimental situation” background is more,but given priority to with “pure knowledge” problem.(5)On comprehensive difficulty,the targets of textbooks exercises almost is the “understanding” level,PEP textbook exercises on “the content of knowledge”,“reasoning level” and “operation level ”are higher.As a result,the comprehensive difficulty of PEP textbook exercises is higher.(4)The results of the survey:(1)Usage: teacher and student use more for example,teacher and student use fewer for exercises,the main reason is that there are other materials;they are often lectures examples,use after class exercises.(2)Evaluation: teachers think the number of exercises less,students think moderate;they all think that diverse topic is not enough,and the exam differences;Difficulty,teachers say examples are easy,students think difficulty appropriate;Effect,the teachers and students all think examples exercises to consolidate the new knowledge and feedback teaching effect.There is more difficult to improve the examination skills and to be emotional attitude and value education.(3)Suggestion: In the illustrations,rich illustrations configuration of examples and exercises;Background,choose more close to the life and science and technology application class’ background;Characteristics,to increase examples and exercises’ comprehensive,interesting and practical;Composition,increase the exercises at the end of the chapter and the reference answer.
