With the improvement of the education system and gradually deepening of the reform of education nowadays in our country, the development of aesthetic education has become our important goal to achieve. Offering Music, PE and Art classes with the Music class placing the first which shows its importance is the principal way of developing the aesthetic education in primary and secondary schools in our country. Instrumental music teaching plays a very important role in primary and secondary schools' music education. Now the instrumental music teaching has been carried out all over the country in full swing. However, through the survey of the author, it shows that the instrumental music education condition in secondary schools in Haikou city is not that ideal. Most of the secondary schools are not offering instrumental music lessons, and even in the offering schools the efficiency of the instrumental music lessons is very low. This paper is based on the research of this situation.This paper consists of four chapters. The first chapter is introduction. The introduction first introduces the researching background, including the reasons and bases of selecting the topic; secondly, it concludes the significance of the research from three aspects of theories,subjects and practices, and lists some research methods; Finally, it sums up the literature review of a large number of collected documents. The second chapter goes to the theory exploration of the efficiency of the instrumental music teaching. On one hand, the author states the instrumental music teaching theory from three aspects such as connotation,development and function; and on the other hand, elaborates the teaching efficiency theory from the meaning, components and revelations three points; Finally, the author makes it clear that it is necessary to introduce the effective teaching into instrumental music teaching. The third chapter is about the investigation and analysis of the situation of the instrumental music teaching effectiveness in secondary schools in haikou city. After interviewing part of the music teachers in secondary schools in Haikou city and analysing the investigation questionnaire of some students about the instrumental music teaching effectiveness, the author concludes the problems which lead to the inefficiency of instrumental music teaching in haikou city. The fourth chapter, the strategy and supporting to improve the effectiveness ofinstrumental music teaching in secondary school. Firstly, the author puts forward the reasonable strategy to improve the effectiveness of the instrumental music teaching through four measures, i.e. raising students' interest in instrumental music study; improving students' skill of playing a musical instrument; offering reasonable teaching process; diversing the teaching methods. Secondly, the author suggests some supporting ways to make the strategy real such as to improve the quality of the teachers; to get the supports from parents and schools; and to get some relevant policies.
