| Total Physical Response(TPR) is a branch of Second Language Pedagogy proposed in 1960 s by James Asher(a famous psychologist from US San Jose State University) after long-term research. TPR proposes to learn a second language like infants and young children learning their mother language and thus the students’ initiatives and emotional actions will promote them to learn cheerfully through physical activities. Usually games, performances, music, and pictures are used in TPR teaching. TPR focuses on the coordination between body movements and language and the interaction between teacher and students. The most outstanding characteristic of TPR is "teach through lively activities". TPR can effectively stimulate the students’ interest and motivation in learning a second language, arouse their desire to learn, and efficiently alleviate the tension and anxiety during learning, thus achieving the effects of rapid understanding and remembering.TPR is a very important second language teaching method.More and more teachers as Teaching Chinese as a Second Language start use TPR.But there are some teachers do not know TPR accurately.In this paper, the part 1 is about the origin of this paper.The part 2 is about the origin,the current situation and the theoretical basis of TPR.The part 3 is about the present situation of teaching Chinese in the Nakhonthai school.The part 4,through a questionnaire survey on the Chinese Volunteer Teacher,to understand the use of TPR.The part 5,according to the genuine classroom, analysis the method of TPR in the comprehensive lesson,the Aural-Oral Lesson and the cultural lessons.finally,analysis the advantages and disadvantages of TPR,and find a best way to make this teaching method better,make a interesting Chinese lesson. |
