Geographic information system can be used quite widely, always use a map or processing area of geographical spatial data, can with the aid of GIS technology. The developed countries in the world have a mature is the application of GIS to the middle school geography teaching. In China, the GIS technology is applied to a lot of progress in middle school geography teaching theory, applied to real practices or rarely geography class. Based on the characteristics of the geography subject, teaching content more intuitive, vivid, this can better reflect the geographical phenomenon or geographic process. Just stay on the traditional teaching methods and teaching materials of planar maps, such as geographical knowledge of teaching can only be passed to the students to remember. GIS technology can make up for the inadequacy of traditional geography teaching, create better than that of the geography teaching materials of graph, can gain good teaching effect, improve the efficiency of geography classroom teaching.On the basis of reading a large amount of literature, the writer found that GIS has gradually been used in the secondary school geography class teaching. Earlier the GIS education abroad, link is relatively mature. Our country can be directly applied to the GIS resources of geography classroom teaching is relatively less, but GIS technology in the middle school geography teaching research are still growing. The author through the study to the powerful features of the GIS software, analyzing the characteristics of the junior high school geography textbook knowledge, find some function suitable for junior high school geography teaching, these functions include terrain analysis, maps, spatial analysis functions and 3 d dynamic simulation function. Also summarizes the GIS auxiliary advantages of the two aspects of the junior high school geography teaching, respectively is the teacher's teaching and student learning.This article studies the process of using the literature method, comprehensive analysis, comparative law and case law. To read a large number of literatures, comparative GIS geography teaching and the advantages and disadvantages of traditional geography teaching method. Analysis of compulsory education curriculum standard and seven grade geography teaching material contents, and designed a GIS auxiliary junior high school geography teaching cases. In this paper, through the above method to the following conclusion:1. Our country can directly applied to GIS geography classroom teaching resources is relatively small, but that does not deny the superiority of GIS auxiliary middle school geography teaching, research on GIS geography teaching in middle school is still growing.2. The author through the study to the powerful features of the GIS software, analyzing the characteristics of the junior high school geography textbook knowledge, found that GIS technology is suitable for auxiliary function of junior high school geography teaching has a terrain analysis, maps, spatial analysis functions and 3 d dynamic simulation function. Also summarizes the GIS auxiliary advantages of the two aspects of the junior high school geography teaching, to the teachers' teaching and students' learning. For teachers' teaching, highlight the teaching emphasis and breakthrough teaching difficulty, can help teachers clearly show the cognitive process of map spatial thinking, improve the efficiency of classroom teaching.3. Based on the "contour map" teaching case study, found in the ARCMAP plane contour map into ARCSCENE three-dimensional contour map. By controlling layer, establish the relationship between contour and 3 d mountain, is helpful for students to a better understanding of the contour map. In the teaching case study, the regional development difference found in ARCGIS, produced in 1993, 2003 and 2013 world regions lighting distribution, by controlling the layer continuous present three pictures, can show the dynamic changes of the world development effect. Such teaching helps to cultivate students in view of the development of a region or geographic things. Found in "Australia" teaching case study, ARCMAP with control layer and overlay display function, help to analysis the causes of the formation of Australian farming and animal husbandry. The teacher can better guide the student to the geography things forming elements in a single analysis and comprehensive analysis, is helpful for training students' logical thinking ability, broaden the students' geographic perspective.
