| The educational function of ideology and politics is a basic question of ideological and political education. The research on the educational function of ideology and politics has been a hot point since its foundation. In recent years, it has been a research hotspot to explore how different carriers play their functions fully in the academic circles. Motto is the best carrier of education in colleges, which represents schooling philosophy, historical culture and value orientation. It is also the soul and flag of school, guiding teachers and students to realize self-worth academically. Therefore, it has the distinct ideological content and function of ideological and political education. In fact, it is always ignored. So this paper focuses on ideological and political education function of university school motto and analyzes how to achieve its function fully.This article is based on meaning, characteristics, type of motto and its relation with ideological and political education, and studies ideological and political education function of university school motto with a combination of theory and living examples. Ideological and political education function of school motto includes ideological guidance, educating students, accurate positioning, moral restriction and positive motivation. The realization of ideological and political education function is restricted by education administrators, educates, development and construction of school motto, education environment and management. By studying ideological and political education function and factors that limit the play of the function, the author proposes solutions to strengthen the realization of the function. For instance, we should give publicity to school motto and play a dynamic role of the education subjects and objects. The management of colleges and universities should realize the importance of school motto to improve the status of school motto in ideological and political education. Methods for the construction of the school motto should be transformed to improve social identity of school mottos. Improve the environment of the construction of the school motto and intensify supports. The bridge between achievements of ideological and political education and college brand value should be built. |
