At the background of the economic and social transformation, the migrant population appeared quietly and its number is growing every day. The way of migration changed from individual to family and a large number of migrant children appeared. In the process of blending in with the city, some migrant children are suffering from psychological problems called low self-consciousness, which has the outside appearance of a series of cognitive, emotional and behavioral problems. From the perspective of the developmental psychology, the research tried to use the method of growth group to improve the quality of self-consciousness of the migrant children and analyze problems on the basis of the theory of self-consciousness. The research created a good atmosphere of peer relations to enhance the hematopoietic function of establishing a system of good self-consciousness. The way of the intervention followed the logic of“self-awareness—self-experience—self-regulation—self-awareness” and it acted through the different stages of growth group and every link of the activities. To evaluate themselves correctly, form good self-experience, establish good self-control are three aspects which are used for helping enhance the consciousness of the migrant children. After the service and assessment, the research found that the effect of growth group was remarkable. The study found that: growth group can improve the quality of self-consciousness of the migrant children very well but not play a good role in promoting their self-regulation, which is worth further discussing; the design of the growth group should obey the law of self-consciousness; growth group is really suitable for improving one's self-consciousness, and has the promotional value. After reflection, the researcher found that, in addition to the power of the group itself, social workers can also unite the power of family, school, and society to enhance and extend the effect of the group work. If it is possible, growth group can be carried out on a regular basis.
