The Study Of Changes For Private Wuchang University Of China In The Early Period Of The Founding Of New China(1942-1952)

In the early period of the founding of new China, the communist party of China and government implemented higher education system reform which was centerd on departments adjustment for the national colleges and universities. Private colleges and universities gradually disappeared in the process of this reform. For a long time, the Chinese modern private university is a subject which is not researched. This paper takes the private Wuchang university of China as a case and a breakthrough point on the reform of higher education system. The study of changes is deeply investigated and analysised at the three aspects of takeover, reconstruction and departments adjustment in the early period of the founding of new China. Hoping through the case study of this article, existence state of private university can be more deeply understood and the case study of this article contributes to enrich case study of private universities.This article focused on two aspects:firstly, the thinking and specific implementation process of how to take over the private Wuchang university of China by the communist party of China was described while paying attention to the investigation in the process of takeover process. In the reform policy of "resolutely reforming and gradually implementing" old institutions of higher learning, the Wuhan takeover ministry of culture and education adopted the cautious takeover attitude of "no messing rather going slowly and progressing steadily" for the private Wuchang university of China, at the same time, the private Wuchang university of China adjusted themselves actively. Both sides tacitly coordinat" in the takeover process and worked together to complete the takeover. Secondly, specific transformation processes of management system, teaching system and university system for the private Wuchang university of China were described.lt was a key part of this article. In the reform of management system, the board of directors was recombined to weaken power of old organization and a new university council which was a new management organization was established. In the reform of teaching system, ideological and political education of breaking the old thinking and opening the new thinking were implemented. Curriculum reform for streamlining curriculum and improving teaching methods were achieved. In the reform of university system, through the first small scale departments adjustment which was performed by the private Wuchang university of China in condition of initiatively adapting to the situation in 1949-1951 and the national departments adjustment in 1952, private property for the private Wuchang university of China constantly changed and presented to public property trend. However, with the deepening of higher education reform in the early years of the founding of new China, the private Wuchang university of China was ultimately withdrawn in the wave of national departments adjustment.
