At the beginning of the PRC, in order to adapt the situation of domestic and overseas,theCPC began to reform departments adjustment in colleges and universities,which refers to all thecountry.It is not only a major event in the history of higher education,but also the important partof the Chinese communists social change.Departments adjustment meet the need of consolidating power,and it adapted the newchanges of political, economic and cultural,more important,it meet the need of higher educationitself.all these factors caused this departments adjustment.It largely went through four stageswhich have different focal point:from the end of1949to the end of1951,it began to do thesmall-scale adjustments in Beijing Tianjin and Shanghai and become the prelude of departmentsadjustment.The reform of1951-1952made the reform wind blow to all country,the adjustment of1953is the supplement of the before,but the adjustment of1955-1957has strategicmetastatic.After the adjustment,professional settings in all universities also had big change.This adjustment meet the request of national economic construction,establish thefoundation of socialist higher education,change the traditional concept of China.Overall,it issuccessful and necessary.But the beginning mind did not come true and had manyweaknesses,such as the single of education pattern,humanities and social sciences encounteredproblems,values had utilitarian and so on.We must learn a lesson from the theseweaknesses.Strengthen the scientific nature of the professional settings,depending on thecircumstances do things,pay attention to the development of sustainable and the development ofprivate higher education,all those are the precious experience from it.
